Sometimes augmenting your chin with fat is enough and you don't need an implant or osteotomy.
What is fat grafting?
This was discussed a lot of times in other threads already so let's keep it short.
Fat grafting which is called autologous fat transfer uses your own fat usually harvested from the abdomen or flanks, which is then purified and injected into the injection site which is the chin in our context.
The primary benefits of fat grafting over something like fillers are that they won't just migrate, at best the body would just get rid of some excess fat cells and you might require multiple sessions.
Apart from that fat grafting is very great for long-term purposes, just like any osteotomy or implant.
What does it fix?
Fat grafting on your chin adds projection, fixes a deep mentolabial fold, can even be used synergistically with osteotomies to harmonize results after the surgery.
What it doesn’t fix
It won't push the bony chin per se forward, the projection is limited also. Fixing skeletal issues first should always be your priority.
It also won't fix the gonial angle, occlusion or bite.
Ideal candidates
An ideal candidate would be someone that just wants to enhance his mandible structure with soft tissue augmentations.
