Chin anatomy and the basics

The chin is one of the most aesthetic segments of your skull anyone should try to maxx out.

This guide will cover everything you need to know.

First let's get started with a basic anatomy lesson.

What is the chin in the first place?

No, it's not a bone itself per se. The chin, also called the mental protuberance, is part of the mandible.

The mandible is your lower jaw.

What affects the appearance of my chin?

Well, that's a bit more complex. The appearance of your chin isn't only affected by the bony projection but also by soft tissue and the shape of your mandible itself.

Your bite impacts how your chin looks.

If you don't have straight teeth get braces or orthodontics ASAP. Never forget your teeth hold your entire mandible and maxilla intact and prevent bone resorption.

Consult with your dentist or orthodontist first.

The gonial angle.

If you have a too high gonial angle your chin won't look projected at all. CCW rotation is the only fix for that problem.

Downgrowth.

That connects with the gonial angle thing. If your chin is downgrown, you might need to move it upwards itself, not only your mandible. Every mandible grows differently, keep that in mind.
