There are many softmaxxes to add volume to your upper eyelid.
PDO threads are used both for stimulating collagensynthesis and slight changes of features.
Quick intro to PDO threads
- They consist of polydioxanone
- Costs usually range between $300-1000
- Promotes collagensynthesis, tightens and lifts skin
The different types of threads
- Mono threads
- Barbed/cog threads
- Cog/spiral PDO threads or PCL threads
What to ask your aesthetician
Our goal is to not lift the eyebrows which would be contraproductive as it exposes all of the upper eyelid exposure.
This is what we don't want for example:
We're aiming to lower the eyebrows and consequently reducing the UEE.
Additionally if done correctly it can improve your canthal tilt.
This is a basic guide on how to depress your eyebrows:
- Insert threads 2-3cm above the eyebrows, this is your anchor point
- Insert them in a downward direction until you just hit the edge of your eyebrows
- Additional thread to improve the canthal and eyebrow tilt
Risks
- You usually use PDO threads to lift skin, not to depress it
- Brow ptosis
- Nerve trauma if your aesthetician hits one
Alternatives
Botox
Usually mogs in terms of depressing the frontalis muscle. May not reduce UEE enough.
Filler
Can really add a ton of volume to your eye area, can be combined with botox.
Implants
Obviously the holy grail in terms of ascending your eye area for a reason. Your eyebrows rest on your supraorbitals, so artificially lowering that point will move your eyebrows consequently down too.
