Quick Deep-Dive into Thumbpulling

Thumbpulling is a technique that supposedly expands the sutures of the palate.

There are two main sutures "Thumbpulling" is thought to expand:

  1. The median palatine suture.
  2. The transverse palatine suture.

The neat thing is: It does fuck all at expanding those sutures.

The MSE (Maxillary Skeletal Expander), which thumbpulling is based on, is a mouth appliance used to widen these sutures with constant pressure.

Funny how all those individuals posting Thumbpulling transformations don't even have a tooth gap to begin with.

The difference between both is, with Thumbpulling you only apply short intense pressure to pull the sutures apart. Mechanotransduction is a physiological process that takes time, pulling once or twice daily on your sutures won't change a molecule.

Apart from that, soft tissue and other facial bones simply put your pallate back into place. That also explains why results with MSE tend to go back to baseline after some time without overexpansion.

Also no, your mandible won't grow along with your maxilla.

This suggests that maxillary and mandibular development aren’t fully linearly related, but rather occur independently of each other.

Most Thumbpulling transformations are basically just frauded.

Just turn your head horizontally and vertically theory.

"B-But my transformation bro!" Cope.

You sticking your thumbs in your mouth didn't do shit.

TL;DR: Thumbpulling is brutal cope. If it worked, it wouldn't be classified as a "Looksmax" but rather as a "Looksmin". More about that on the next page.
